India’s ONGC interested in exploring oil in SL
Srilankamirror - India’s Oil and Natural Gas Company (ONGC) officials are to arrive in Sri Lanka since the company has expressed interest in exploring for oil in the Mannar Basin.
Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha said ONGC officials are expected to visit the country shortly to discuss about the matter and asses the already available data.
ONGC is the second Indian company to enter into oil exploration in Sri Lanka. The first was Cairns India.
The officials from the ONGC are to assess the possibility of drilling for oil and natural gas in the Mannar Basin according to current data.
