Voting is a Right. It is also the responsibility of the elected public representatives to serve the people after being voted to office.
Yet, It is questionable as to whether those elected to office have kept their promises, and this is why the time has come, to Think Again.
The Think Again Campaign, a public service initiative entered its 13th day on Wednesday the 29th of June focusing on three districts.
The team based in the Kalutara District commenced the campaign today from the Madawala Sri Sudarshanarama Temple in Mathugama.
The teams visited many villages including Agalawatte , Hedilla , Bellana , Andiyawala , Madawala , Delgas-Handiya , Hamburegoda, Bella-Mahala, Polgampala and Lathpandura.
Public Representatives had made promises during the run up to elections, to strengthen the infrastructure facilities and renovate roads.
Another News 1st team commenced the campaign from Hatton.
When News 1st visited the Gaminipura Village, the locals lamented on broken election promises.
The people living in the Blanken Estate Housing Scheme in Dik Oya note that politicians have turned a blind eye towards their problems.
People from the Dik Oya area visit the Dik Oya Base Hospital for treatment.
Despite the fact that the hospital was built under Indian Aid, the new wards have not been opened for a period of two years severely inconveniencing patients.
The News 1st team touring the Batticaloa District visited the villages of Porthivkattu , Pudhumanmarichcholey, 37th Colony, Palachcholai, Kalugamam, Kandhamalai and several other areas.
The locals lamented that lack of infrastructure, drinking water and the constant threat of wild elephants have kept them on their toes even at night.
