UPPER KOTMALE TO GENERATE POWER FOR NATIONAL GRID
Plans are afoot to add to the National Grid the power generated by the Upper Kotmale Hydropower Plant.
The power generated by this hydropower plant will be added to the national grid before the end of this month. The Plant which has a capacity of generating 150 megawatts of power will be the largest Hydropower Station in the island. Construction work on the Plant remained paralyzed while the present administration took the initiative of accelerating the work. The Electricity Board said that the construction has reached the final phase. Accordingly the board is of the view that it would be able to make a major contribution to meet the power requirements of the country
