Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy joins SEEDS Board

Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, is an experienced development professional with a 30 year track record of policy – making and providing economic advisory services at national and inter-governmental levels. This has included working extensively on both macroeconomics and structural issues.

He has a track record in Public Policy with considerable experience gained in implementing projects and programs in complex environments within a result based framework as well as negotiating and collaborating with major multi-lateral and by-lateral donors and other stake holders including the Civil Society and Private Sector.
Dr. Coomaraswamy holds a BA (Hons) and MA from the University of Cambridge, UK and DPhil from University of Sussex, United Kingdom. He was also the Director of Economic Affairs at the Commonwealth Secretariat and has held many important positions at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
He was an official in the Central Bank of Sri Lanka from 1973-1989. He worked in the Economic Research, Statistics and Bank Supervision Divisions. He was also seconded to the Ministry of Finance and Planning (1981-89). He was employed by the Commonwealth Secretariat from 1990-2008. During that time he held the positions, inter alia, of Director, Economic Affairs Division and Deputy-Director, Secretary-General’s Office.  Dr. Coomaraswamy is a distinguished old boy of Royal College and excelled in the sport of Rugby. The other Directors of SEEDS (Guarantee) Limited are Chairman Daya Muthukumarana, Dr. Vinya Aryaratne, Shakila Wijewardena, Dr. Sujatha Wijetilaka, K.L. Gunawardena and Subasena De Silva.
