‘Civil rights not restored for N-E people’

- srilankamirror.com

(Srilankamirror) - The People’s Wall for Comradeship has alleged that civil rights are yet to be restored for the people of the north and the east.

PWC convener Sunil Handunnetti told the media in Vavuniya today (Dec. 10) that they urged the government to solve the basic problems of these people.

He said that on one hand LTTE leaders have been made ministers in the government, while on the other cases against remanded LTTE suspects are heard in a language unknown to them.

Mr. Handunnetti accused the government of seriously breaching human rights and engaged in anti-democratic acts in other parts of the island too.
