Treasury gives Rs. 50mn to SLC
Srilankamirror - The Treasury has granted Rs. 50 million to cash strapped Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to help its current financial crisis.
Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has said the money granted by the Treasury would be used to pay the salaries of the SLC staff.
He has added that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is to give US$ 2 million to SLC by tomorrow (12) to pay a major portion of the salaries of the Sri Lanka cricketers.
The ICC is to make another payment by January, which would be used to oay the balance payments due to the cricketers.
However, Altuhgamage said the SLC was now receiving funds and the financial crisis would be resolved by next January.
