Special transport services are being organized to enable the public to celebrate Christmas sans any difficulties.

The programme has been launched with the purpose of giving an efficient service to the public by operating additional train and bus services. The Sri Lanka Transport Board has unveiled special bus services to meet the needs of the people traveling to and from Colombo in view of the Christmas season. These bus services are operative until Monday the 26th. 40 buses have been added to the service while a special unit has been established at the Central Bus Stand in Pettah.
In the meantime, Railways Planning Director Vijaya Samarasinghe said that additional train services have been deployed to meet the needs of the commuters without experiencing any congestion or delays.
Mr. Samarasinghe said that the Sri Lanka Railways will be operating a special Christmas train service. One special will run from Colombo Fort to Badulla. This will leave the Colombo Fort Railway Station at 9.15 a.m. tomorrow and reach Badulla at 6.40 p.m. and on Christmas a special will leave the Badulla Station at 5.25 a.m. and reach Maradana at 2.25 p.m. In addition, he said that special trains will be added to the service at congested stations. He also revealed that special security will be in place in the trains.
