ESOFT Computer Studies Ltd., Sri Lanka’s leading ICT education company, recently entered into a franchise agreement with Empiricalminds Ltd. to deliver ESOFT study programmes in selected areas in the country.

Also present are Empiricalminds Director Lasitha Vitharana and Anusha WickramarathnaThrough this new initiative, ESOFT intends fast-tracking its programme of broad basing ICT education in the country via the establishment of a  network of study centres in Sri Lanka, thereby contributing towards bridging the widening gap of ICT skills that exist among those in the Western Province and the rest of the country.
Commenting on the new initiative, Dr. Dayan Rajapaksha, Chairman/Managing Director of ESOFT Computer Studies Ltd. stated that the primary goal of his company is to take ICT education to the doorstep of the common man and make Sri Lanka an ICT literate nation.
“We as ICT professionals have a binding obligation to support the Government’s noble efforts towards making ICT education accessible to the masses in the country, and the only way we could help this cause is through broad-basing ICT education, so we can envelope a larger proportion of students to follow IT and open the door for a world of opportunity,” he asserted.
Empiricalminds Ltd. is a company involved in training and consultancy which is headed by Dr. Prasanna Lokuge, CEO of ESOFT International Education Ltd., one of Sri Lanka’s most respected ICT professionals.  Dr. Lokuge, a Past President of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka, has previously served as a Lecturer, Monash University, Australia, School of Business Systems, Faculty of Information Technology, from 2004 to 2005; Lecturer, Central Queensland University, Melbourne Campus, Faculty of Information and Communication, from 2004 to 2006; and Lecturer, Faculty of IT, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, 2006-2007.
He has also held many senior positions in the IT industry in local and multinational companies including the post of Director IT – Sri Lanka Ports Authority and IT Consultant for CMA – the world’s second largest shipping company. Dr. Lokuge is also a sought-after ICT Consultant who has handled numerous consultancy projects of several high profile clients such as the World Bank and ADB.
The first study centre managed by Empiricalminds is scheduled to be open shortly in the heart of Nugegoda – one of the busiest Colombo suburbs which boasts a thriving student community.
The ESOFT City Centre which is due to commence shortly has been designed to provide its students with an enriching learning environment and equipped with all necessary infrastructure and learning facilities including fully air conditioned lecture halls, interactive labs, multimedia,  and other conveniences.
Backed by ESOFT Computer Studies Ltd., the new ESOFT City Centre in Nugegoda is looking forward to providing its students with an all new experience in ICT education and help them acquire internationally acknowledged qualifications, thereby shaping their lives to face tomorrows challenges more confidently, stated a press release issued by the company.
