IFCO wins National Business Excellence Award

International Foodstuff Company Agri Bio Tech (Pvt) Ltd., (IFCO) was bestowed with the prestigious National Business Excellence Award for the Agriculture and Plantations Sector” presented by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, the leading trade and industrial promotion body in the island, consisting of member companies representing the entire spectrum of industry, trade and commerce in Sri Lanka.

The award was presented to IFCO in recognition of the services rendered during the past 3 years in the field of Agriculture, including the generation of foreign earnings through the exportation of local fruits & vegetables and thereby uplifting the national farmer community.
Chairman of the IFCO Group, Mr. Sarath De Silva, by profession being an Accountant, took the first step in 1974 to export fruits & vegetables by starting S.S. Exports. Subsequently, IFCO and IFCO Agri Bio Tech was formed in the year 1979 and 2003.
IFCO today is truly a pioneer in the Agriculture industry and is the leading grower, producer & exporter of fresh produce from Sri Lanka, covering the total spectrum of agriculture.
IFCO has High-tech agri farms in Embilipitiya, Thunkama, Walalgoda, Sooriyawewa, Padeniya and also work with over 1”00 out-grower farmer families by way of entering in to forward purchase agreements with them,
IFCO has won many accolades during it’s journey starting from the Presidential Merit Award in 1981, Entrepreneur of the Year Merit Award both National & Provincial (western) in 2000, National chamber of Exporters Award of Merit for Non Traditional Agricultural Exports in 2002 and the National Chamber of Exporters Silver & Gold Award for Non Traditional Agricultural Exports in 2003 & 2007 .
Sarath De Silva has contributed immensely to promote the Sri Lankan agri based economy and holds office of many national organizations. At present, Mr. Sarath De Silva is the immediate past President of the National Chamber of Exporters and is also the;  Immediate Past Chairman and Patron, National Agribusiness Council of Sri Lanka; Immediate Past President and Patron, Sri Lanka Fruit & Vegetable, Producers, processors
& Exporters Association; Co-chairman (Export Cluster), National council for Economic Development; Former Director, Export Development Board of Sri Lanka; and Member of the Agriculture Advisory Committee to the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka.
Former Deputy Chairman, Institute of Post Harvest Technology; Former Director, Lankaputhra Development Bank; Former Director, Gemidiriya Foundation etc.IFCO with its futuristic and innovative plans have engaged continuously to solve both national/ world food crisis and, have also contributed in the fields of advance agri technology, investment, management, knowledge gathering & sharing for the purpose of uplifting the overall Agriculture industry of Sri Lanka.
