Crowds gather to wish SL Olympic team as Torch of Hope rally gathers pace

Large crowds continue to extend their wishes to the Torch of Hope rally, which is organised with the intention of mustering support for Sri Lankan sportsmen and women who will be competing at the Rio Olympics.

The rally which entered its fifteenth day today, is organised by the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited, together with News 1st, and is supported by the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Education and the National Youth Services Council. The Torch of Hope rally commenced the day’s journey from the town of Avissawella.

The motorcade of the Torch of Hope rally was made more colourful with the participation of various dance troupes as well as local sports clubs and youth clubs. Later, the motorcade reached the Ratnapura town.

Former Discus Throw National Champion Padma Nandani carried the  torch in the Ratnapura Town.The Torch of Hope rally marked its conclusion at the Pelmadulla town on Thursday where a ceremony was organised the rally.
