US investors concerned, but will do business
Srilankamirror - US investors have expressed concerns over the human rights situation in Sri Lanka but it is not expected to have a major impact on trade ties between the two countries.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, Holly Vineyard has said the US is looking at increasing trade with Sri Lanka.
The US official has made this statement during a round table discussion with a group of journalists on Wednesday following meetings with the Sri Lankan government officials and business representatives.
Vineyard referring to China’s involvement in Sri Lanka has said the US government welcomed competition from anywhere in the world.
She has added that the US was highly impressed with Sri Lanka’s economic growth rate and was looking at engaging more with the Sri Lanka.
