The excellent engineering feats of Access Engineering Ltd. were recognised at the ICTAD Awards 2011 held in December last year when the company was accorded three National Awards for Construction Performance.

Organised by the Institute for Construction Training and Development (ICTAD), the awards are considered the most prestigious within the engineering industry, with stringent selection procedures to ensure accolades are reflective of the quality and prestige of these national level awards.
The awards won by Access Engineering were for the Nugegoda Flyover and the Sangupiddy Bridge in the Bridge Sector valued between Rs. 100 million and 500 million and also in the same category, for the bridge across Ma Oya on the Pannala-Maningamuwa-Mellawagedara Road.  The awards are selected on the evaluation of numerous features of the project including performance, organisational structure, quality standards, financial ratios and work systems, while Access Engineering submitted its applications via visual, oral and documentary submissions in the execution of these construction works.
On accepting the three awards, Access Engineering COO Rohana Fernando stated, “With Sri Lanka being on an accelerated infrastructure development drive, it is certainly timely that companies like Access Engineering contribute not only with skill and knowledge, but with innovation and quality standards on par with national engineering demands.  All three projects, which we have won ICTAD Awards 2011 for, truly example the contribution we have made in ensuring that Sri Lanka’s infrastructure capabilities are rapidly developed, while our 1,600 strong team, which remain definitely among the best within the civil engineering arena, infuses the imperative features of innovation and a continuous input of internationally recognised quality standards into each of our projects.”
Access Engineering remains a backbone in the civil engineering industry of Sri Lanka with its highly diversified industry portfolio which includes turnkey engineering solutions that encompass design, procurement, construction and commissioning of multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Under award winning Nugegoda Flyover Project, a 261 meter long flyover constructed with the funding assistance from the UK Government was commissioned in January 2009, while the bridge cross the Ma Oya on the Pannala-Maningamuwa-Mallawagedara Road was completed in November 2008 with funding provided by GOSL.
A much needed road link was established between Jaffna Peninsula and Mainland at the completion of construction of Sangupiddy Bridge in January 2011. This road link helps boosting development and commerce for the north, while reducing the travel distance from the south to Jaffna by about 110 kms.
The project undertaken in partnership with Mabey and Johnson Limited UK under the Regional Bridge Programme with British Government finance assistance is an impressive 288 meter long 7.35 meter wide dual carriageway bridge.
With its prowess in engineering capabilities in the engineering industry, Access Engineering has proven year on year that its execution and overall commitment to excellence remains unwavering.
