Probe over threatening of Sports media sectretary
(Srilankamirror) - Cinnamon gardens police today (Jan. 27) informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli that several persons who had allegedly threatened the media secretary of the Sports Ministry are being investigated on.
Media secretary of the Sports Ministry, Harsha Abeykoon has been receiving death threats to his mobile phone after answering a question at the ‘Waada Pitiya’ programme broadcaston Jan. 24 on Derana TV.
The case was filed after Mr. Abeykoon lodged a complaint with the Cinnamon Gardens police on this regard.
Police informed courts that Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Former cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga, Secretary of Sri Lanka cricket - Nishantha Ranatunga and Deputy Director of the Sports Development unit of the Ministry - H.A. Peiris had also participated in the programme.
