TN group violently opposes Lions Flag
(Srilankamirror) - A group of youths in Tamil Nadu violently opposed the raising of Sri Lanka’s national flag in the southern Indian state on the occasion of the island’s 64th Independence Day.
Police, after much effort, controlled the group that had brought down the lion’s flag, spat on it and trampled it.
At an Independence Day celebration at Mahabodhi Society in Chennai, its chief incumbent Ven. Thiniyawala Palitha Thera stressed the need for Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu to promote friendship.
It is a victory by the Sri Lankan people to hold the event successfully in order to further strengthen relations with India, and to help build a new Sri Lanka, he said.
