Dilshan announces retirement from ODI’s and T20’s
Tillakaratne Dilshan has confirmed that will retire following the third ODI of the series against Australia and he will play his final T20 international in Colombo on September 9
Dilshan’s performance has been a climb during the latter parts of his career-averaging 49.18 in ODIs since the start of 2013, and had his most successful ODI year in 2015 when he scored 1207 runs at an average of 52.47. The 39 year old has been 2016 top T20 scorer durinf the World T20 and remains on of the most agile fielders in the team.However selectors have been building a team for the 2019 World Cup and Dilshan was persuaded to retire.
He managed to score 2 and 10 in the first two matches and Both Kusal Perera and Danushka Gunathilaka have opened the batting in this series, and Dhananjaya de Silva-who has opened the batting for his club, through the most recent domestic season- are potential candidates to take over from the Veteran.
