Namal favours Jackson’s concept

It has been revealed to Presidential Commission that Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has had an involvement in the incident where Rs.138,000,000 from funds of Ports Authority was spent for the water filling and opening ceremony of the Hambantota harbour indiscriminately and without adhering to any procedure.

A letter sent by the Director of Creative Helanka Company Jackson Anthony to former Chairman of Ports Authority Priyath Bandu Wickrama has been presented to the Commission by Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara as written evidence that confirms the involvement of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

The first paragraph of the letter states Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa had thanked Jackson Anthony and had stated that he had accepted Mr. Jackson Anthony’s concept. As such, Mr. Jackson Anthony has asked Mr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama to take measures to pay the agreed amount.

In the investigation carried out by Constable Priyantha (3819) under the supervision of IP Anuruddha it has been revealed that Ports Authority has paid Mr. Jackson Anthony Rs. 20934000.

State Counsel revealed these facts before the five member Presidential Commission headed by Appeal Court Judge Preethi Padman Soorasena. Other members of the Commission are High Court Judges Wickum Kaluarachchi, Piyasena Ranasinghe and Gihan Kulatunga and retired Attorney General P.A. Pemathilleke.
