Police use tear gas to disperse protestors

Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse a protest organized by the People’s Liberation Front (JVP) in Maligawatte today.

The effects of the tear-gas was not limited to the protesters alone and people living in the surrounding area were hit by the noxious fumes as well.

Hundreds of protestors gathered in Maligawatte to protest against the recent fuel price hike.
