Filipino woman nabbed at airport with cocaine
(Srilankamirror) - A Philippine woman has been arrested at the Katunayake airport for trying to smuggle cocaine into the country.
The cocaine haul is said to be worth Rs. 45 million.
The woman had arrived on board a flight from Brazil this morning (Feb. 16).
The haul had been concealed in a laptop bag, airport officials said.
Meanwhile, Colombo high court judge Padman Surasena passed the death sentence on a Sri Lanka Transport Board driver, who was arrested in colombo Pettah for possessing 813 g of heroin.
The convicted, Subramaniam Punam Mercy, is a resident of Mannar and had been peddling drugs between Colombo and Mannar.
