Kerosene concession to be provided tomorrow
The kerosene concession to be provided by the government will be available from tomorrow.
The government has decided to provide the kerosene concession to all households without electricity supply. The Samurdhi Commissioner General’s Department has taken measures to grant the kerosene concession amounting to 200 rupees monthly, to 450,000 households without electricity. All Divisional Secretariats will be taking measures to provide the concession while the first round of the programme will be launched on the 19th of February. The districts with the highest usage of electricity are reported as Colombo and Kurunegala. As a large number of estate workers have been supplied with electricity, kerosene consumption amongst them has dropped. The government has taken measures to provide the kerosene concession to all households that are lit with kerosene oil and fishermen. Twenty one thousand five hundred and fifty one, one day vessels are being operated with kerosene oil. This would provide relief to the small scale fishermen who use kerosene.
