Gammadda 100-Days: Gangeyaya canal renovation commences in Embilipitiya
Renovation on the canal of Gange Yaya in Embilipitiya commenced on Thursday, September , under the Gammadda 100- Day Initiative. The section of the canal from Udawalawe to Angunakolapelessa will be renovated under this project.
The canal which has not been renovated for several years, has caused the destruction of several crops of the local community due to the scarcity of water.
Renovating the canal of Gangeyaya, will restore the local community’s agriculture which will enable them to once again contribute to the country’s agricultural requirements.
The project is being funded by the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation.
The commencement of renovation on the canal today brought a smile to the faces of the locals in the village.
The Gammadda 100-Day Initiative intends to restore the hopes and aspirations of the locals of the village who sustain their livelihoods on agriculture, in a few days time.
