War reporter Marie Colvin dies in Syria
American war reporter Marie Colvin, who has lost sight in one of her eyes when she was reporting the conflict in Sri Lanka has died in Syria following a shelling attack, says media reports.
Colvin in her 50s was working for Britain’s Sunday times and has been reporting the Syrian political crisis at the time of her death.
She has been reporting from a makeshift media centre in the Baba Amr district of Syria, an area held by the anti-government groups, when the shelling has hit the centre.
Colvin has lost the sight of one her eyes during the year 2001, when she was reporting the conflict between the Sri Lankan forces and the LTTE, a proscribed terror group.
She has been covering conflicts in countries such as Chechnya, East Timor, Kosovo, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe among many others during her outstanding career.
Colvin is a graduate of the Yale University.
