BBDO Lanka, first advertising agency to become ‘Carbon Neutral” in South Asia
BBDO Lanka Private Limited has become the first advertising agency in South Asia to obtain the “Carbon Neutral” Certificate, says the agency in a statement issued.
The agency, part of the BBDO Worldwide, says it adopted the dual measures of reducing the level of carbon emitted out of its operations and also buying carbon credit to offset the unavoidable carbon footprint generated by the firm.
“The impact any organization has on the environment cannot be cancelled out altogether. What a business can do is attempt to minimize its carbon footprint and take the necessary steps in order to offset the level of unavoidable carbon generated”, Santosh Menon, Managing Director of BBDO Lanka said in the statement issued.
BBDO has been backed by the Carbon Consulting Company, an entity which advises firms on how to become “Carbon Neutral” by reducing carbon emissions or buying carbon credit.
The CCC is a Carbon Footprint Expert certified company and is accredited by the Carbon Trust, the UK Government’s carbon standards body.
“There is little tolerance in this day and age for companies that are not environmentally aware and active. We are proud to be the first advertising agency in South Asia to take this step”, added Chanithi Gunasekera, Account Director, BBDO Lanka.
BBDO Worldwide has its presence in 80 countries.
