Baur Asia Pte. Ltd. represented by its Director Thomas Daetwyler (also CEO of A. Baur & Co Ltd.,  and Swiss Hotel Management Academy Ltd.) recently visited the world renowned Swiss Hotelfachschule Lucerne (SHL) – established in 1909 – to analyse the progress on the establishment of the first Asian campus in Sri Lanka under the name of Swiss Hotel Management Academy.

Switzerland’s hotel schools have an excellent reputation around the globe. Switzerland’s history of excellence in hotel management began more than 100 years ago when the first hotels were built in Switzerland. The SHL has over 100 years of experience in bringing out one of the best qualified management personnel in hotels.
By the time the education program is achieved, the successful candidates will have the renowned ‘Swiss Hospitality Touch.’ SHL graduates have the reputation for being able to take immediate charge of hotel operations without going through any induction by their employers. The modular system  focusing  on  practicality  is  exceptional  and  will  be  also  applied  on  supporting  the hospitality industry in additional modular education as an additional focus.
Thomas Daetwyler met with the officials of the Lucerne Hotel School in Switzerland Urs Masshart, President of the Foundation, Martin Schwegler Vice President and Legal Advisor, Kurt Imhof Director and Timo Albiez Project Director to establish the formula on how to take forward this project in Sri Lanka where the first Asian campus will be established.
The support of the Government of Sri Lanka represented  by  Minister  of  Economic  Development  Basil  Rajapaksa has  been exemplary.
The  agreement  between  Swiss  Hotel  School  Lucerne  and  Baur  Asia  Pte.  Ltd., will  be  signed beginning  of  April  in  the  presence  of  Philippe  Ilg,  Company  Secretary  Baur  Foundation, Cubby
Wijetunge and Anton Thevapalan both Directors of Swiss Hotel Management Academy Ltd.,
Thomas Daetwyler CEO and Bart Ferwerda Principal elect of the Swiss Hotel Management Academy as well as the management and board members of the foundation of the Swiss Hotel School Lucerne.
