Renowned for their hospitality in Sri Lanka, Hilton Colombo has been dedicated to service excellence and innovation.
Keeping in line with their 25th Anniversary celebration Hilton Colombo is introducing three tantalising signature cakes; each of which have been carefully created with the culinary expertise of Hilton Colombo’s very own pastry chefs.

The first signature cake, the Lotus Bloom Cake goes hand in hand with Hilton Colombo’s traditional beginnings. At its inception, the hotels logo was a lotus flower and this was the inspiration behind its creation said Chef K.A. Sujanthi. She further added she wanted to draw inspiration from the national flower the Nil Manel with its royal purple, and from the Blue Energy’ theme which depicts Hilton Worldwide. The cake is layered with blue berries, whipped cream and cream cheese making decedent and very pleasing to the eye.
The second cake created, designed by Pastry Chef M.M Oissanayake, is a tangy Passion Fruit Delight. This moist enchanting cake uses passion fruit to bring out the unique flavour of Sri Lanka. Adding to its distinctiveness, the cake is designed as a Vesak lantern to show off our culture. Made from only the best Italian meringue, passion fruit puree, vanilla sponge, whipped cream and white chocolate, this self-indulgent cake is a treat.
The final cake is created by Pastry Chef S.G.S Somarathna, this extravagant cake which is also dedicated to Hilton Colombo’s anniversary celebration is hazelnut flavoured with specs of crispy nuga. Chef Somarathna’s objective was to keep away from tradition. The cake which is the ultimate chocolate fantasy blends in the taste of chocolate butter cake, rich dark chocolate and white chocolate with the textures of hazelnut and nuga with every bite.
Hilton Colombo General Manager Rudolf Trostler speaking about the launch of the three cakes said, “This is a very special occasion and the launch of our very own signature cakes adds to the celebrations for our 25th anniversary. Our chefs have made a cautious effort to infuse some local elements in to the cakes and as always some decadent flavours. At the Hilton Colombo we strive to provide the best hospitality and hope our patrons are able to indulge in the three uniquely different cakes we have on offer.”
All three creations will be available at Fine Things at Hilton Colombo, for those who want to indulge in their unique, rnouth watering flavours. The carefully developed recipes personify Hilton’s inner most extravagant qualities as the signature cakes each interpret a story of Hilton Colombo’s 25 year journey. This marks another celebration as Hilton Colombo celebrates 25 years of service excellence, continuing to be the trendsetters in the industry and delivering on Conrad Hilton’s vision of spreading the light and warmth of hospitality, in Sri Lanka.
