UNP in an unsuccessful attempt to conceal bond scam
It is reported that the UNP is engaged in concealing the notorious bond scam committed by former Governor of Central Bank Arjun Mahendran.
The UNP is making this attempt to conceal the crime after a majority members in the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) passed a report to be presented to Parliament.
The report passed by the majority of members of the COPE has been prepared after a lengthy investigation on two bond auctions carried out when Arjun Mahendran was the Governor of Central Bank. This report is to be presented in parliament this week.
Despite the preparation of this report, the UNP is attempting to save the former Governor of Central Bank by preparing a report contrary to the one prepared by the majority of members. It is revealed that a number of UNP stalwarts in addition to the UNP Members representing the COPE are involved in preparing the erroneous report.
