Sri Lanka’s leading HRM body, the Association of Human Resource Professionals Sri Lanka (HRP), is gearing to make waves at its upcoming HRM Awards learning conference entitled ‘The Axiom Revolution: Strategy, Leadership and Innovation.’

A prelude to the HRM Awards 2012 which are to be held in July, the conference will take place on 18 May at Water’s Edge and feature a stellar line-up of internationally acclaimed speakers including Professor Wee Chow Hou, author of the famed management bible ‘Sun Tzu: War and Management,’ who will be delivering the keynote address.
In addition to being a bestselling author, Professor Wee is the Head of the Marketing and International Business Division at Nanyang Business School, the business faculty of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. A former Merit, Colombo Plan and Commonwealth Scholar, he has conducted executive training in over 30 countries for hundreds of organisations including Fortune 500 companies. He also sits on boards of several public listed companies in Singapore, and is also a member of various international advisory boards.
Professor Wee will be joined at the conference by Aon Hewitt Asia Pacific CEO Edouard Merette, Head of Corporate Development and Executive Placement for South Asia at Siemens AG Dr. Mukund Vyas, who will address the gathering on the topics of ‘People, Performance, Profit’ and ‘Leading in an interdependent world’ respectively. The conference will also feature a lecture on “New vistas in employee engagement” given by Tata Motors Senior Vice President and Head of Human Resources Prabir Jha as well as a presentation by GAC Corporate Academy General Manager Damien O’Donoghue on ‘Borderless Learning, Innovating ROI.’
Bringing the Sri Lankan perspective to the panel of distinguished international speakers at the event is Professor Uditha Liyanage, the Director and Chairman of the Board of the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenapura, who will be delivering a lecture entitled ‘A contextual deliberation on people-based business strategy.’ Other highlights of the conference will include a panel discussion entitled ‘HR drives the bottom line’ and a Young Leaders Forum featuring Sri Lanka’s emerging corporate leaders.
HRP is encouraging professionals of all disciplines to participate in the event, asserting that the content of the learning conference is relevant to all, not just HR professionals. “We operate in a world where processes, systems and technology are synonymous across most organisations, and an organisation’s unique strength is built on its people,” stated Axiom Revolution – HRM Awards Learning Conference 2012 Chairperson Chiranthi Cooray. “In many organisations, there is limited understanding of the impact of HR has on growth, sustainability as well as the overall bottom line. We are seeking to change that mindset, and bring to light the people factor in driving the bottom line. That is why we are calling this learning conference The Axiom Revolution.”
