Special train services during festive season
Special train services will be launched today in view of the festive season.
The Railway Planning Director Wijaya Samarasinghe said that a special train will be operated from Colombo Fort to Kandy. He said that the special train services will be operated in view of the school holidays and the Sinhala New Year. Arrangements have been made to introduce a special intercity express train from today. Earlier this service was available only on Saturdays, Sundays and Poya days. The train will be operated from today until the 17th . The train will leave the Fort railway station in the morning and will leave Kandy railway station in the afternoon. Meanwhile a special intercity express train will be operated to Badulla on every other day. The train left the Fort railway station this morning and it will leave Badulla tomorrow morning. This train is being operated in addition to the normal services. Meanwhile trains will be operated to Polgahawela, Rambukkana, Anuradhapura and Kalutara.
