Museum Under Rakna Lanka

The security of the National Museum is to be handed over to Rakna Lanka which operates under the Defence Ministry.
The Minister of National Heritage Dr. Jagath Balasuriya told The Sunday Leader that the Ministry security which is now in place at the museum will be removed.
The security of universities was also recently handed over to the security firm which operates under the Defence Ministry.
Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd. also handles the security of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the BMICH.
Minister Balasuriya said a special security plan was required for the museum after it was burgled recently. New surveillance cameras and security alarms will be installed in the museum the Minister said, adding that visitors will also be thoroughly checked.
He said that there was a suspicion that someone who visited the museum may have been involved in the recent theft.
