Dambulla, 19th August 2017,
Sri Lanka Cricket today announced the completion of the first phase of its planned augmentation of Stadia across the Island in time for the first ODI between Sri Lanka and India commencing tomorrow (20) at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. (RDICS)
Accordingly, augmentation has been made not only to base facilities such as seating, hospitality, sanitation, and security, but also of in-stadia fan engagement and entertainment facilities to be on par with International standards
The Stadiums will feature enhanced security, guaranteed reserved seating and international brands of refreshments, world-class LED and Giant screens to be enjoyed in a carnival atmosphere making for a fun, safe and pleasing environment for the entire family to enjoy the game in.
In keeping with the investments made into the broadcast of the games internationally in HD, SLC has invested an additional Rs. 3.5 M in improved flood lighting in order to ensure the best possible picture quality in international standards.
SLC had invested Rs. 645 Million in Floodlighting installation and renovations in 2011 ahead of the World Cup (R. Premadasa International Stadium – Rs. 180 M, Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium – Rs. 245 M, Pallakelle International Cricket Stadium – Rs. 220 M) however no investment had been made into the neglected RDICS until SLC invested Rs. 50 M in the repairs ahead of the Australia tour of SL in August last year (2016).
