Mongoose Adventures brings SNUBA to Chaaya Blu, Trincomalee

Mongoose Adventures, Sri Lanka’s leading adventure sports provider, launched an exciting new experience for tourists in the East, with the introduction of SNUBA to Trincomalee.
A cross between snorkelling and scuba diving, the sport is an easy and safe way to explore the diverse marine life around the seas off the Eastern coast.

Additionally, SNUBA offers swimmers the opportunity to safely experience the underwater world at deeper depths than snorkelling, without requiring prior Mongoose Adventures Managing Director Nishan Silvadiving certification. A typical SNUBA dive takes swimmers to about six meters below the surface, where a wider variety of aquatic life can be observed.
“Trincomalee, and Pigeon Island, are an ideal location for SNUBA, where swimmers can experience the amazingly rich and colourful marine life,” said Mongoose Adventures Managing Director Nishan Silva, adding, “As Sri Lanka’s tourism sector grows, Mongoose Adventures is committed to providing new experiences for tourists – both local and foreign – by introducing exciting adventure activities like SNUBA to the country.”
Since Snuba combines both scuba diving and snorkelling, it is a safe and easy option for those who have a basic knowledge of swimming.  The sport uses most of the apparatus used for Scuba diving, but with the Oxygen tank floating on the surface, rather than on the swimmer’s back. The tank is connected to the swimmer through a regulator and tube, and participants are taken underwater after a 15 minute safety introduction and demonstration.
Mongoose Adventures was the first to introduce SNUBA to the South Asian region, with an exciting launch at Chaaya Tranz, Hikkaduwa earlier this year, and the expansion to Trincomalee forms part of the company’s plans to brand Sri Lanka as an adventure sports hot-spot.
“Sri Lanka has great terrain, weather and scope for adventure sports to thrive. Our aim is to intro-duce various sports – sea, land and air based – to bring more tourists to the country, who stay longer to experience the variety of activities available,” he added.
Since its introduction over 20 years ago over five million people across the globe have successfully completed a SNUBA dive, with no reports of serious injuries related to the sport. Its impeccable safety record combined with the ease of the activity has made SNUBA the world's fastest growing water-sport.
Mongoose Adventures, operated by Alco Leisure Ltd., is Sri Lanka’s leading adventure sports provider bringing the latest in sea, land and air based thrilling adventure sports to set your heart racing and blood pumping.
