The varied programs of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Economic Development are now accessible online. They cover development, poverty alleviation, empowerment of the poor, promoting investments to Sri Lanka, travel and tourism industry and nature conservation.

Under Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s able leadership, the Economic Development Ministry is forging ahead to improve the people’s quality of life, raise domestic income levels and boost national growth thereby attracting much needed investments in developing tourism, conserving Sri Lanka’s natural beauty in order to make the island truly the ‘Wonder of Asia’.
The information is already available in English and Sinhala and will be available also in Tamil in the coming weeks. In addition to all regional development programmes 13 institutions including the Samurdhi Commissioner General’s Department and the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority come under the Ministry’s purview. Online access provides more opportunities for people to tap into accurate, up to-date information than ever before and has the potential to transform the country’s development activities. The website will continue to develop over time and aims to involve communities in shaping its content.
