Sri Lanka packaging industry exhibition to be held during this month
Sri Lanka’s Packaging Industry will kick off a three day exhibition during this month in a bid to promote the sector, which is experiencing growth, owing to the demand from both local and international market.
Accordingly, the exhibition, named as ‘LANKAPACK 2012’ scheduled to commence on the 25th of May, will see nearly 150 exhibitors taking part.
Harris De Silva, the Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging said, 40 international exhibitors, representing companies from countries like, India, China, Malaysia and Taiwan etc. will take part in the upcoming event.
Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging says, this is the first time that the exhibition is receiving such a large number of exhibitors from overseas.
President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging Dudley Thambinayagam speaking to the media last evening said, the exhibition is held in the wake of a rapid growth the industry is experiencing.
“with the growth in exports as well as the growing demand for consumption in the domestic market, Sri Lanka’s packaging industry is also experiencing rapid growth” he added.
An international packaging conference will also be held on the sidelines of the conference which will be addressed by both local and international speakers of repute.
The event will take place at BMICH, Colombo.
