NSB unions want Kariyawasam out

- sundaytimes.lk

All unions at the National Savings Bank (NSB), in a joint statement, are urging Pradeepa Kariyawasam, Chairman NSB to resign in the 390 million-rupee scam over the NSB purchase of a 13 % stake in The Finance Company (TFC).

They have warned that the unions will take action if Mr. Kariyawasam doesn’t step down. “We expect you to announce to the media and the public about this issue,” the statement, issued on Friday, further said. The bank has been tainted by the deal which has been cancelled by the President.

The statement said this alleged mishandling of funds has happened for the first time in the 40 year-old history of the bank. It said the deal has eroded the confidence and trust the public had in Sri Lanka’s biggest savings bank. (DEC)
