One Day Workshop on Industrial Relations and Labour Laws

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold a Workshop on ‘Industrial Relations and Labour Laws’ from 9a.m. to 4.30p.m. on Tuesday 22 May at the Chamber Auditorium No 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo-10. Resource person will be Ananda Sahabandu, an Assistant Commissioner of   Labour. Sahabandu is also an Attorney at Law having more than 25 years experience in the field of labour laws and labour relations and other employment related issues

The program will be beneficial for human resource directors/executives, training managers and HR managers who could acquire knowledge on labour related matters including   industrial disputes.
Topics to be discussed will be legal framework governing industrial relations in Sri Lanka, contract of employment and types of employment, working arrangements under the shop and office act, wages board ordinance and factory ordinance, EPF, ETF, Gratuity, Recent amendments to EPF Act. Other topics such as misconduct and disciplinary procedure, termination of employment, resolution of industrial disputes, labour tribunal procedures and relief, and worker’s compensation will also be covered.  The program will be conducted in English but the participants will have an opportunity to raise queries in all three languages.
