Restraining order against MTV/MBC preventing telecast of London Olympics
The Colombo Commercial High Court has issued a restraining order against MTV and MBC preventing the telecast of the 2012 London Olympic Games. .
Accordingly the order restrains the all pre-publicity related to the 2012 London Olympics. The court had issued this order pointing that that MTV and MBC had no legal authority to undertake such transmission. It is the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation that had been vested with the authority of telecasting the 2012 Olympics through an agreement by the Asian Broadcasting Union.
Accordingly the restraining order issued by the Colombo Commercial High Court prevents MTV and MBC from creating an unjustifiable competition within the market, while the Rupavahini Corporation enjoyed such legal rights.
