Members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be exempted from four subjects when they follow the Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious University of Southern Queensland (USQ) now offered by the Business School of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).

With these four exemptions, students can now sit for only eight subjects instead of the required 12 subjects while studying for the MBA which has been recognised as one of Australia’s top 20 programs and complete the course within period of a one year to one and a half years.  With the exemptions, students will also have the opportunity of saving approximately Rs. 350,000, due to the reduced number of subjects they have to undertake to complete the MBA. USQ is an international university of repute in distance learning and was the first accredited ‘institution of best practice’ for external higher education in Australia.
CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapaksa said that since inception the Institute has taken every effort to provide accounting professionals with the best of qualifications, both recognised locally as well as globally. “In our aim is to groom well qualified professionals, CA Sri Lanka has gone beyond providing qualifications related to accounting. The world renowned MBA program offered at our Institute has been well received by top corporate professionals who have completed it, making it one of the most successful MBA programs offered in the country,” Rajapaksa noted. He added that the Institute came into an alliance with USQ almost a decade back to ensure Sri Lankan professionals from both the accounting and non-accounting fields get the best of foreign qualifications right here in Sri Lanka. CA Sri Lanka CEO Aruna Alwis empahsised that the Institute  is well equipped to cater to the professional development of all students.
According to him by later this year CA Sri Lanka will also have its new multi-storied office building complex completed, which will also house the CA Business School featuring modern infrastructure facilities for the benefit of its student.   “We are continuously striving to provide the best of facilities for all our members and students, and this new building is testament to our efforts as we work tirelessly to ensure that we are a body with a global standing providing the best to all our stakeholders,” Alwis noted.  CA Sri Lanka is one of the largest and among the most respected professional organisations in the country with 4200 members and is also one of the largest tertiary education providers with a student base of over 37,000. The USQ MBA which is of world class repute has been followed by more than 1400 students both in Australia and outside Australia and is the largest MBA program of any Australian university.
