Lasith Malinga pulls out of Middlesex contract (pics: theage.com.au)

Lasith Malinga who was expected to play for English county, Middlesex during this years Friends Life T20 tournament has pulled out of the contract to have more time for rest, a media report said.

According to the report, Malinga has made this decision following discussions with the Sri Lankan Cricket Board, where he has agreed to have more time to rest.

Malinga despite being one of the best bowlers in the world, especially in the shorter version of the game is more injury prone.

He also suffered knee and back injuries during the concluded IPL tournament, where the bowler represented Mumbai Indians as its lead bowler.

The Lankan speedster retired prematurely from test cricket to prolong his cricketing career.

Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser has said: “Naturally, we are extremely disappointed that Lasith will not be playing for Middlesex CCC in this summer’s Friends Life t20. Everyone at the club was looking forward to working with and watching Lasith play for the Panthers”.
