EPF is not exposed to danger says Central Bank
The Central Bank has said that the Employees Provident Fund is safe and it is not exposed to any danger.
Superintendent of EPF of the Central Bank Kalyani Gunatllake stressed that the propaganda, being spread by certain opposition groups is baseless.
Certain political groups in the opposition spread propaganda that the EPF as well as state sector and several private financial institutions are unstable. The government has stated that their baseless attempt has been to destabilize the financial base and to blame the Central Bank for it. The Finance Company, National Savings Bank or the EPF are not facing any risk. The government is protecting the entire financial network with commitment. This has resulted in the stability of the Sri Lankan financial network even when the world market was facing destabilization. Several international institutions including the International Monetary Fund have indicated that the economy in this country is properly managed. These allegations are being hurled by saboteurs who have caused losses amounting to more than 600 billion rupees to the Sri Lankan economy. The government said that attempts of such unprincipled treacherous groups should be defeated.
