Commonwealth Games bid money being audited
The monies spent to bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Sri Lanka are being audited and would be made available once the audit is completed, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage told Parliament today.
He said the government had allocated Rs100 million for the bid but of this amount Rs 39 million was spent on the Hambantota beach games while the rest of the money came from the private sector.
UNP MP Sajith Premadasa in his query requested for details of monies that were spent for the Commonwealth Games bid.
Sri Lanka lost its bid to hold teh games in Hambantota to Australia’s Gold Coast.
