New Cancer Hospital affiliated to the Maharagama Cancer Institute is to be constructed
Another Cancer Hospital affiliated to the National Cancer Institute at Maharagama is to be constructed. It will be built at a cost of 2100 million rupees.
The Ahamad Tea Company in London which sends Sri Lanka tea to around 70 countries for about 25 years will be giving 1500 million rupees for the construction of new Cancer Hospital. The balance which amounts to about one third of the cost will be provided by the Sri Lankan Government.
The inking of the Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the Hospital took place in the presence of Minister Maithripala Sirisena at the Health Ministry today. The seven storied Hospital will have 373 beds. It is planned to complete the construction work of the Hospital which will have all modern facilities within two years.
