ANC Education, the premier international higher education provider in the country, launched its first-ever School of Postgraduate Education on Tuesday to mark its 10th anniversary. The ANC School of Postgraduate Education was launched in collaboration with the University of West London, UK (UWL).

“This is a significant milestone in our journey of ten years. ANC school of Postgraduate Education, with the motto of ‘Advancing Knowledge, Transforming lives, Changing Organisations’ is now focusing on an entirely a new target group. We see great potential for postgraduate programs locally and as usual ANC ensures to provide all coursework on par with global standards,” said ANC Education CEO/ Executive Director Dr. Punarjeeva Karunanayake.
ANC Education Chairman Jagath Alwis stated, “ANC School of Postgraduate Education was launched with the objective of providing excellent British Postgraduate education to Sri Lankan students in collaboration with the University of West London. It is with great pride that ANC will present a series of industry relevant postgraduate awards which will enhance the earning capacity of students.”
The University of West London is prestigiously known as the ‘Best Modern University in London’ with several number one rankings in its name which includes the number one modern University in London for law and number two graduate employment rate for a modern university in London (Guardian University Guide, 2012).


The university comprise of eight schools including art, design and media, nursing, midwifery and healthcare, business, law, hospitality and tourism, psychology, social care and human sciences and computing and technology. With a heritage of over 150 years in teaching and professional education, the university is known to be a place that will shape your knowledge, experiences, and your career opportunities and prospects.
“As a part of our expanding partnerships with international education institutions, we are happy to partner with ANC Education to offer a number of postgraduate awards. We are confident that our up-to- date postgraduate awards will benefit students in Sri Lanka for both academic and career advancement,” stated University of West London Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter John.
Elaborating on the LLM awards Prof. Malcolm Davies Head of Law School of University of West London said: “It is my belief that the new suite of masters degree programs that we are offering with our partner institute in Colombo, ANC, will provide another route for those wishing to work as lawyers.”
Prof. David Jones, the Head of West London Business School congratulated ANC for launching the ANC School of Post Graduate Education while explaining that the business Masters degrees will enable students to significantly advance their capabilities and careers in areas that are of strategic importance not only to Sri Lanka but globally.
The latest venture of ANC Education will be focused on advancing knowledge by introducing study methods that deviate from theory based education and capture more practical elements. The general curriculum and the theoretical aspects of the program will precisely cover what is offered by the University of West London with 30% of the coursework being taught by professors from London.
ANC will offer added benefits for students by giving them a rare opportunity to listen to the experiences and the success stories of Sri Lanka’s business leaders, CEOs, leading lawyers etc by way of workshops, seminars and series of networking sessions. Another objective of the postgraduate school is transforming lives of the students by moulding them to increase their earning potential by inculcating skills and knowledge sought after by the employers.
ANC Chief Academic Officer Dr. Upali Mampitiya stated, “The academic delivery of these awards will be identical to those delivered at University of West London using modern learning resources, such as the digital library facility and Blackboard. Students can earn an internal degree from UWL while going through a rich learning experience.”
ANC will offer four programs under the law postgraduate program including LLM International Business and Commercial Law, LLM International Banking and Finance Law, LLM International Studies in Intellectual Property Law and LLM International Investment and Arbitration Law. The postgraduate business programs include the MBA, MA Contemporary Marketing, MSc International Business Management and MSc Project Management.

I am very confident that the MBA, MSc and MA business programs will provide graduates with new skills; career development and financial returns,” stated Inderjit Chander, Academic Head of Business Programs at ANC.
“With the renewed interest in foreign participation in joint ventures in several areas of the country’s economy, it has become more urgent than ever before for local lawyers and professionals to broaden their horizons. The Master of Laws (LLM) programs offered by the University of West London provide a unique opportunity for Sri Lankan lawyers and professionals who deal with legal matters to gain an insight into many areas of the law of particular relevance to their work,” said ANC Academic Head of Law Programs Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya.
Students who enrol in the LLM programs are given the unique opportunity to complete one semester in London at a minimal rate of approximately 1,000 pounds. The completion of postgraduate programs at ANC can be done at phenomenally low rates and flexible time schedule. The ANC school of Postgraduate Education will open up valuable opportunities to students to qualify with an international postgraduate award.
