EFutures said yesterday that mobile application development projects are becoming increasingly dominant in its project portfolio for 2012, with signs that mobile development work is set to increase in the medium term.

Apple’s resounding success with its iPhone and iPad line of devices, and the open source Android OS by Google have finally thrown the mobile revolution into full swing, and ushered in a new era where mobile devices and not personal computers will be the dominant computing platform for enterprise.
“To date we have undertaken two large scale projects for companies based in San Francesco, United States,” EFutures Technology Director Prashan Nagendra said. “Our forecasts tell us that more and more companies will want to take advantage of the mobile platform as time goes on,” he added.
Apple Co. has stated that it has sold over a 100 million iPhone units worldwide, with sales in the first quarter of 2012 alone, closing at 35 million units.
Android OS has been installed in over 150 million devices at the end of 2011 with Google announcing an annual increase of 250% in installations. With these kinds of numbers it is not hard to see that the future is certainly mobile, and why enterprises are determined to utilize it to promote their products and services.
“We are ready to face the demand and have been consistently recruiting developers for mobile applications since the beginning of this year,” EFutures’ Director Rishen Fernando said.
The company has been a potent software development partner for enterprise for the last 12years supporting clients of the calibre of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), and many of the large Wall Street Firms.
