EZY Racing, Sri Lanka’s foremost motor racing team which has become a dominant force in the Sri Lankan motor racing arena, yesterday announced its latest alliance, with international lubricant specialists, Castrol.

“Castrol is a brand synonymous with premium quality, high performance and leading edge technology within the different sectors of the lubricant industry for an array of applications in motor sports. Therefore, I am delighted that Castrol, has joined hands with EZY Racing as the official Lubricant Partner of the team. Having Castrol on board adds to our credentials as a team that’s got great backing and the means to handle the business of Motor Racing,” EZY Motor Racing Corporation MD/CEO and Team Principal Shafraz Hamzadeen said.
Castrol marketed by AMW, the sole distributor, partnered with Sri Lanka’s premier motor racing team EZY Racing, primarily due to the professional approach that they have brought  to the sport, which has in turn enabled them to deliver high impact performances.
EZY Racing, which is the motor racing brand of the EZY Motor Racing Corporation, was incorporated in 2010 as Sri Lanka’s first ever dedicated motor racing company. Over the last 3 years they have designed a successful business model in managing a professional motor racing team through ground breaking partnerships hitherto unknown in the local Motor Racing arena.
“When we launched EZY Racing three years back, there was a lot of skepticism of our vision of being a dedicated motor racing company. Over the last three seasons we have been successful in proving that motor racing can be driven as a successful business venture. This has primarily been due to the fact that we have had the strengths and resources to invest in the brand EZY Racing which in turn has attracted quality drivers, world class partners and an exceptional team that has driven results. This partnership with Castrol serves to further strengthen that belief,” said Hamzadeen.
Castrol, the internationally renowned brand of lubricants was founded in 1909 by Charles Wakefield. Since then, the company has established foundations for a specialist Lubricants Company committed to premium quality, high performance and leading edge technology.
Castrol’s affiliation with sport is nothing new to the Castrol Brand. “Castrol has partnered with many teams in the professional motorsport arena such as Formula 1 and MotoGP and non-motor-driven sports such as Soccer and Cricket. “We have made strategic corporate plans to partner sports in the long term.  As sponsors it is important that we look at the sustainable development of the sport and the only way this could be done is to increase its following, thus making the sport more attractive and closer to its fans,” said AMW Director BTL and Strategic Development  Sivaji De Zoysa said.
The affiliation between EZY Racing and Castrol complements these objectives of Castrol, as EZY Racing with their ‘dream team’ of drivers who have given EZY Racing strong results in the 2012 season, have successfully developed a very strong follower base who passionately back the  black and red team.

Castrol offers a cutting edge technology product – Castrol EDGE Sport 10W-60 which is a highly respected and racing proven synthetic formula for the premier motor racing team, EZY Racing.
EZY Racing who created history in motor sports when they announced the first ever affiliation of a clothing partner [Crocodile, with the co branded merchandise being sold through the retail stores of  Crocodile] in Sri Lankan motor racing , have gone on to become an attractive and desirable brand to be affiliated with. This newest partnership with Castrol further underlines the team’s credentials.
Commenting on the values of his race team, Hamzadeen further went on to say “at EZY Racing, partnerships mean much more than putting a sticker and running around a racing circuit. We believe in being true ambassadors for the brands that partner with us. So over and above the obvious awareness our partners get in partnering with EZY Racing, we also have a dedicated business division that would actively engage with Castrol in making our partnership more meaningful.”
In the last 3 years, EZY Racing has successfully developed a brand that has attracted a very strong following. The fact that EZY Racing even has it’s own line of clothing which is bought by a strong base of passionate fans is a true testimony to this. “Our ability to develop this attraction and following for EZY Racing is the greatest value we provide our sponsor partners, as they know that they are guaranteed of visibility and brand awareness when they partner with us. This is the primary reason Castrol, who are a dominant player in the field of lubricants chose EZY Racing to partner with.” said Hamzadeen
EZY Racing, who currently have a very strong following of 17,000 dedicated fans on their Facebook fan page (www.fb.com/ezyracing), have evolved to become a force to reckon with in local motor racing circuits, while the international tracks will soon be their racing ground in the not too distant future.
