ETF gives 75 million rupees for Grade Five scholarship grants
The Employees Trust Fund has donated 75 million rupees as a scholarship grant for students who had excelled in the 2011 Grade Five scholarship examination.
A sum of 15,000 rupees will be awarded every year for 5000 students who excel in the Grade Five Scholarship Examination. A cheque for 75 million rupees required to award scholarship for students who excelled in the scholarship examination in 2011 was presented to President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday. It was handed over by EPF Board Chairman K.M.A. Godawatte.
This programme was mooted by the President in 1994 when he was serving as the Labour Minister. Since then it has been operative. Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera and Chairman of the People’s Bank W. Karunajeewa were present on this occasion.
