President wants diplomats to play bigger role
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that diplomats have a much more functional role to play than attending parties and ceremonies.
President addressed the Sri Lankan diplomats at a ceremony held in Diyatalawa today.
“You must have a readiness, a willingness and capability to persuade others about the needs of your country, and how your country can contribute to other countries, regions and to the world”, president stated.
President also stressed the importance of unity among member in diplomatic mission.
He said that it is nearly impossible to run an efficient mission without cordial relationship among the staff.
