New Media Ministry Secretary assumes duties

The Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information Dr. Chritha Herath assumed duties yesterday amidst invoking blessings by the Maha Sangha and the leaders of other religious faiths.


Addressing the staff of the Media Ministry Dr. Herath said that the Media Ministry has a great task to perform in assisting the development activities of the government and said that the President expects more contribution from the Media Ministry to enlighten the masses about the development activities being carried out in the country.
He said that the Minister of Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella is a very democratic and hard working personality and it is the responsibility of everyone working in the Ministry to contribute for ensuring the fulfilment of the tasks set out in the Mahinda Chintana – Vision for the future.  He urged everyone to provide their maximum contribution devoid of petty personal disputes and differences and by working as a team.
The Director General of Government Information Professor Ariyaratne Atugala, the Additional Director General of Information Chandrapala Liyanage, Director of Information Wasantha Priya Ramanayake, Director of the Media Centre for National Development Ariya Rubasinghe, Director General of Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Anusha Pelpita, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Mohan Samaranayake, Chairman of the Independent Television Network Rosmand Senarathne Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation Hudson Samarasinghe, and several others attended the function.
