SLPL will get two more teams from next year – Upali Dharmadasa
Sri Lanka Premier League will be added with two more teams from next year covering all nine provinces, announced SLC Chief Upali Dharmadasa.
Dharmadasa who was speaking at the media launch of the SLPL, which was held this evening in Colombo said, “We will add on two more provinces from next year to make it 9”.
He expect this will enable people from all provinces to rally around the SLPL.
Sri Lanka Premier League will be kicked off on the 11th of August and will run up to the 31st August 2012.
This year’s tournament will feature seven teams representing seven provinces.
Sandiip Bhammer, Chairman of the Somerset Entertainment Ventures, which organizes the tournament in partnership with SLC said “This tournament will be Sri Lanka’s own internationally admired domestic cricket tournament”.
Sri Lankan Skipper Mahela Jayawardena believes the tournament will give youngsters an opportunity to be in a dressing room with great players who have played 100 or most test matches etc.
The Tournament is expected to have multiple of entertainment activities inside the stadium while the matches are on.
Cheer Girls, Live Music bands and spectator experiences are expected to be featured in the tournament.
SLPL will be shown live across all major cricketing nations.
