CID informs court about pornography content found in Lanka Mirror website
The Criminal Investigation Department informed Court today pornography content was found in the hard-drives of the computers seized from the Sri Lanka Mirror office. The CID made this intimation to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court when the case pertaining to the matter was taken up today.
The Criminal Investigations Department further said that this data found from the three computers seized from the Lanka Mirror Website Office had already been recorded. Pointing that the computers seized from the office had been handed over to the IT Unit of the Colombo University for further investigations the CID said that offences coming under the Pornography Act have been revealed by this data.
The Counsel appearing on behalf of the suspects called on the Magistrate to release the computers that were seized. However, the CID had raise objections to this request. Later the case was adjourned until the 10th of next month. The CID was also ordered to forward a report showing the progress of the inquiries.
