Standard Chartered Bank’s Pettah Branch yesterday moved to a new location at No. 5 M.D. Gunasena Mawatha, Colombo 12, a few doors away from its previous location, to a more spacious state-of-the-art office laid out to Standard Chartered international Standards.

It has long been the bank’s desire to provide its customers in the island’s iconic trade and commerce hub with modern banking facilities, and this aspiration was realised when the branch opened yesterday.
The Pettah Branch’s banking activities in the new location was inaugurated by the Deputy Governor of Central Bank, Ananda Silva, together with Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank, the bank’s Management Committee and customers. Traditional rites were also observed at the inauguration ceremony, with the lighting of the oil lamp and blessings invoked by religious dignitaries in attendance.
Sanjay Wijemanne, Head of Consumer Banking, Standard Chartered Bank, expressing his pleasure at being able to bring these fresh facilities to Pettah, stated: “The Pettah Branch is well laid out so that our customers can enjoy the same high standards of service from the branch staff as they have in the past. They may rest assured that the same team that served them and who they have come to know and work with closely, will continue to be their trusted business partners.”
Standard Chartered Bank’s Pettah Branch’s new look has enhanced the locale by bringing to it aspects of international banking and modern branding with its attractive on-site signage. Further, in addition to the branch’s spacious and welcoming layout, the new premises will have the added facilities of a 24-hour ATM machine, deposit kiosk, ample parking and dedicated meeting rooms in which customers can discuss business and banking needs. Lucille Vidanage, Head of New Business and General Manager – Distribution, commenting on the move said: “We are delighted to welcome and serve our customers in this bigger and better new location. Pettah has a vibrant and dynamic commercial population and it is our pleasure to be able to bring to them banking solutions in a modern but easily accessible setting. We look forward to long-lasting and successful business partnerships with our existing and new customers.”
