No Pakistan-funded nuclear power plant in Sampur: Champika
Minister of Power and Energy Champika Ranwaka today denied an Indian news report that Sri Lanka is obtaining support from Pakistan to build a nuclear power plant in Sampur, Trincomalee.
Citing a report published in an Indian weekly “Pakistan’s help to Sri Lanka for Nuclear power plant alarms India”, Minister said Sri Lanka has no intention in building a nuclear power plant in the near future.
“There will be only a 500 MW coal power plant in Sampur, which will be set up along with the National Thermal Power Corporation of India and the Ceylon Electricity Board,” he said.
